How were you introduced to Cross Fit & How long have you been doing CrossFit?
“I was introduced to CrossFit from a Men’s health magazine. I was intrigued by the article as they wrote about the benefits of doing CrossFit. It also gave a sample workout to try, so I did it, her name was “Cindy”. Cindy is a mean girl! 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, 15 squats 20 minute AMRAP. After attempting Cindy, I went home and never wanted to see another CrossFit workout again. I have been doing Crossfit for 14 months now, and I have noticed a bunch of health improvements, including cardiovascular strength”.
What made you decide to join RCFEW?
“Moe Saqqa, he is the guy who introduced me to RCFEW. Him and I were at work one day and I noticed his shirt was a little tighter and his stomach was a lot smaller! Haha, so I had to ask: “you’re working out bro?!” He laughed and told me all the amazing exercises he was doing at RCFEW. I texted him later that night and I asked him if I can come in for a free session, and the rest is history. Good thing we did not do Cindy as my first workout, I would probably of walked out of that place. Haha.”
Favourite Lifts/ Wods?:
“Favourite lifts – deadlifts, front squats, split and jerk.
WODs? – none, all of them are hard!”
3 Things you would definitely find in my fridge…:“Red apples, grapes and a lot of beer.”
Favourite Place to Eat:“I love desserts plus in Woodbridge, chicken parm!”
Proudest Accomplishments:“Member of the Month!”
Something People Wouldn’t Know About Me:“I have a huge sock collection, I think I own about 500 pairs of socks. Yeah, it’s slowly becoming a problem.”
Biggest struggle in life?
“Trying to wake up for a 7 am class. I attempted those morning classes when I first started at RCFEW, it worked out well for a month but I think I’ll stick to the noon or evening sessions.”
Do you have a mentor, or someone you look up to? If so who?“Everyone is a mentor in their own way, I learn different things from different people.”
Who inspires you?
“I am inspired by all the coaches at RCFEW, especially Chris. He had surgery last month, and he somehow still manages to get a workout in. For the majority of people, and most likely me as well, we would be in bed trying to recover without any physical activity. He didn’t, he got out of bed every morning, I am sure with some sort of discomfort, came to work and still happened to squeeze out a workout. That’s just amazing, and inspiring for any of us who are struggling to make it to the gym because we are just not in the “mood”. So next time when I am in bed with a pizza and it’s 6 pm, I’ll think about Chris and maybe I will be at that 6:30 pm class.
What music I like listening to while working out:“DJ Danny D, Z1035 way-back at lunch that Chris’ has on for us to workout to at 12 pm.”Anything else you would like to say (Open Comments)? “Thank you, I still do not think I deserve to be member of the month, I am still shocked by it. When I was first told I was member of the month, i had to make sure they got the right person. I asked about three times if they got the right “Josh”
I would also like to thank, not just the coaches, but the people at the RCFEW. Every one of us has a journey to be healthier and smarter humans. I have met such amazing individuals at this place. I cannot express my gratitude to some of you who have pushed me or congratulated me in a job well done. You guys rock, and I hope 2018 is a year of health and happiness to all of you.” Josh-
