What made you decide to join RCFEW

My friend and colleague, Crystal Tait Ferguson kept bragging about Crossfit for over a year and trying to encourage me to join. Every conversation I had with her involved her talking about Crossfit. I thought she was obsessed. But I finally joined when I saw a picture of myself and didn’t like the way I looked and felt. Ever since then, I have become a Crossfit advocate and always encouraging others to join. I feel like now I am obsessed.

Favourite Lifts/ Wods?

I don’t feel like any lift or WOD can be considered as a favourite of mine but I like when a WOD contains air squats, cleans, or push press.

3 Things you would definitely find in my fridge…

1. Almond butter, Bananas, Eggs

Mr. Greek – It’s my fast food joint

I can eat more than a man!

Biggest struggle in life?

My biggest struggle is trying to keep the fat girl inside me content so she doesn’t eat her way out and sabotage all that I’ve worked for in the passed 3 years of fitnessing at RCEW. 🙂 

Who inspires you?

My son inspires me to be the best I can be. He tells me on a regular basis how he’s proud to have a mom who is strong.

What music I like listening to while working out:

Reggaeton is my most favourite whenever Oscar coaches and Hip hop is what I like to listen to all other times while working out.

Favourite movie/ T.V show?

“Gone With The Wind” is my all time favourite movie.

Guilty pleasure?

Watching reality tv and eating chocolate and Miss Vickie’s chips all at the same time

Something CrossFit has taught you?

Crossfit has taught me many lessons. It has taught me that working out isn’t all about just losing weight as I have thought in the past and it has taught me perseverance; if you keep putting in effort, you will make gains.

Advice for someone who is hesitant to try a class?

Just do it! It never gets easy but you’ll make a s***load of friends.

Fitness has always been a part of Steve’s life. He literally grew up in the aerobics room and his first job was cleaning a gym. He is now a co-owner and Head Coach of one. Like other members of his family, he was born with a competitive spirit. He is a three-time CrossFit Games Regional athlete, who also participated in the CrossFit Games in 2016. He’s also competed in the Granite Games as well as Wodapalooza. As a certified coach, Steve’s specialties are perfecting movements and pushing people to a new level of mental and physical strength.
