CONGRATS TO LUCAS DIAZ FOR BEING OUR OCTOBER MEMBER OF THE MONTH!

READ HIS INTERVIEW WITH US BELOW!
Name ( nicknames): At the soccer team I was known as Spider, due to the fact that I have long legs and kind of bowlegged as well. My Capoeira nickname is “Gafanhoto” which means cricket. My guess is also because of the bowleg issue. Haha
Occupation: Audi Sales Representative
How were you introduced to Cross Fit & How long have you been doing CrossFit? I was introduced to crossfit during my recent journey to become a Firefighter. While I was at boot camp, I worked out every morning with a couple of crossfit guys. I soon started to learn and decided to find a gym when I came back home. This was about 3 months ago when I started Crossfit.
What made you decide to join CFM – I was very lucky to be referred to Cristini Athletics by a good friend of mine who had been a member at the gym before. I decided to give it a try and I loved it. Its a great environment, I like the members and the coaches are incredibly knowledgeable.
Favourite Lifts/ Wods? The squat snatch is probably my favorite. Its the hardest movement for me and I laugh at myself seeing the little weight I snatch. But its within that challenge that I find joy and opportunity for improvement.
3 Things you would definitely find in my fridge…
Dragon Stout – Broccoli and greek yogurt
Favourite place to eat: The cheesecake factory
Proudest Accomplishments: Played Professional soccer for a couple of years – Completing the Firefighter Bootcamp was also a big accomplishment for me, something that I’ve always wanted to do.
Something people wouldn’t know about me: I secretly like to watch Telenovelas (Spanish soap operas)
Biggest struggle in life? Surviving winter every year.
Do you have a mentor, or someone you look up to? If so who? I don’t really have a mentor, I try to learn from everyone. I think everybody has something to teach us. I look up to those who pursue their dreams with enough dedication to make them a reality
Who inspires you? My best friend. 4 years ago he suffered a spinal cord injury that left him quadriplegic . He helped me realize how lucky I am to have a healthy body, able to move and work out. I take nothing for granted so I try to give it my all when I’m at the gym.
What music I like listening to while working out: Reggaeton
Something that CrossFit has taught me? That my mind gives up way before my body does. Every class I find out that if I push mentally and I surpass the mental hurtle, my body responds and I’m able to perform beyond what my mind thought it was my max.
I know I am very new to Crossfit and the gym but I want to thank all the coaching staff for their excellent attitude and professionalism. I’ve learned a lot during this little time and I cant wait to grow within the Crossfit discipline.
