How were you introduced to Cross Fit & How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I was introduced to crossfit by another member and a dear friend of mine, Rosie Corvo. My husband Mike and I were curious about it and she told us to check it out. We did our first class, couldn’t walk for a week, and we were hooked. It’s been 4 years at CFM.
What made you decide to join CFM /RCFEW
I’ve always been active and looked for different ways to stay in shape. Conventional gyms and boot camps were just not doing it for me. The community at CFM is motivating and supportive of people of all levels and abilities. I love that I can come to a class and have someone push me to work harder. I feed off the energy of the members and coaches.
Favourite Lifts/ Wods?
Fav lifts – power cleans, push jerk/ split jerk, clean and jerk.
Fav wod – Annie
Least fav– squats! Ask Ben, I complain every Monday.
3 Things you would definitely find in my fridge…
– almond milk
– apples
– eggs
Favourite place to eat
– I don’t discriminate. I love food everywhere. Especially now being prego, my food goals are endless.
Proudest Accomplishments:
Becoming a teacher.
Something people wouldn’t know about me:
– I’m a crazy cat lady
Biggest struggle in life?
– Making decisions. I’m so indecisive!
Do you have a mentor, or someone you look up to? If so who? Who inspires you?
I get inspired by the members at CFM everyday. They choose to come and do the WODS that are difficult and bring on the pain. But they always come back for more and strive to do better. It’s contagious!
What music I like listening to while working out:
– old school hip hop or reggae
Being chosen as member of the month means a lot to me because CFM is such a big part of my life.
I’m pregnant with my first and in my third trimester. In my experience, I can say that crossfit has helped me feel healthy and strong throughout my pregnancy. If anyone tells you to stop working out when you are able, don’t listen to them! It’s a great way to prepare yourself for the journey. All the coaches and members constantly look out for me and make the necessary modifications for my workouts. Thank you Steve and Ben for watching and pushing me to my limits. I owe you big for my pull-ups (pre-pregnancy). Big shoutout to my hubby/baby daddy for being a great workout partner, my coaches, and 6pm workout buddies, you make working out so much fun!
