How were you introduced to Cross Fit & How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I was introduced by a current RCFEW member Crystal Tait. I have been doing Crossfit for over one year now.
What made you decide to join RCFEW?
I am someone who is results driven and I had been going to the GYM for 8+ years and wasn’t seeing results, struggled with my mobility and I was close to giving up on working out. So when I heard about RCFEW I decided to read up on Crossfit. I liked the idea of group training sessions where the coaches work with you to correct your form and help you improve every day. After a few months I already noticed a change in myself where I felt more agile, and my mobility started increasing especially while I was playing soccer.
Favourite Lifts/ Wods?
Strict Hand Stand Push Ups, Burpees, Box Jumps, pull ups and sit ups.
3 Things you would definitely find in my fridge…
Grill Chicken & Vegetables, fresh Fruits & Chocolate Cake
Favourite place to eat
Anything Sushi, burgers and Fries.
Proudest Accomplishments:
Learning how to Squat: So when I first came to Crossfit with my 8+ years of GYM experience and attempted a squat I think I landed on my back side. Through months of working with the coaches and working on the form I can do a squat properly.
Skydiving in Costa Rica: I consider myself a daredevil and decided to take a plunge from 12000 feet above the ground. No Biggy.
Something people wouldn’t know about me:
I lost 40 pounds in 5 months and dropped 3 waist sizes due to crossfit.
Biggest struggle in life?
Having a double major in accounting and marketing I could not land myself a job for over 3 years after I graduated while everyone around me was becoming successful. But I always stood by the philosophy – “there is always light at the end of the tunnel” and it helped me land the career I am in now.
Do you have a mentor, or someone you look up to? If so who?
Yea I have a mentor I look up to. It is no surprise that this person shares the same last name as me. It is no other than the greatest boxer of all time, Muhammad Ali.
Who inspires you?
Depends on the situation I have different people who inspire me. At work it is my managers, while at Crossfit it’s the trainers and growing up it was my parents.
What music I like listening to while working out:
RB&B, Hip Hop.
Anything else you would like to say?
Joining Crossfit has been the best decision in my life and I am now a big advocate for it. I look forward to keep working hard and hitting new PR’s and mastering some workouts I am still trying to improve on.
BTW if anyone from the gym is looking for a Mercedes-Benz let me know I will give them a Crossfit Family discount 🙂
