How were you introduced to Cross Fit & How long have you been doing CrossFit?

I was introduced to crossfit by one of my best friends. I’ve been doing crossfit for almost 3 years.

What made you decide to join RCFEW?

I decided to join RCFEW because I needed a positive change in my life at that time. My fitness wasn’t a priority for a while but after trying a class I instantly felt a connection to the CrossFit community and knew the workout regimen was something I could stick to. I was motivated by the support from other members and I loved the social aspect.

Favourite Lifts/ Wods?

I love heavy squat cleans and deadlifts. My favourite WOD is Dianne

3 Things you would definitely find in my fridge

  1. Kale
  2. Hot peppers
  3. Pineapple

Favourite place to eat

My Nonna’s house

Proudest Accomplishments: 

Graduating from university on my own dime. I worked really hard throughout university to pay for tuition and books without borrowing money from my parents or student loans

Something people wouldn’t know about me:

I used to eat salami sandwiches for lunch in elementary school every single day. If my mom tried packing something new or different, I’d give it away.

Biggest struggle in life?

Being the middle child. Being coined the “black sheep” is a real thing.

Do you have a mentor, or someone you look up to? If so who?

I look up to my dad. He’s always been a hard worker with incredible work ethic and a big heart.

Who inspires you?

I’m inspired by people that don’t care about being judged or about what other people think. Even if it means going against the grain and doing something that no one else understands.  I love hearing from people that have achieved their success or happiness by doing things unconventionally.

What music I like listening to while working out:

“Pure workout” playlist on Apple is my go-to for at home WODs or runs

Open commentary:

Crossfit is such an integral part of my life and who I am that I can’t imagine my life without it. It has not only enhanced my fitness and health, but It’s contributing to a much better me all around!

Fitness has always been a part of Steve’s life. He literally grew up in the aerobics room and his first job was cleaning a gym. He is now a co-owner and Head Coach of one. Like other members of his family, he was born with a competitive spirit. He is a three-time CrossFit Games Regional athlete, who also participated in the CrossFit Games in 2016. He’s also competed in the Granite Games as well as Wodapalooza. As a certified coach, Steve’s specialties are perfecting movements and pushing people to a new level of mental and physical strength.
