The Open isn’t just a competition — it’s our yearly check-up.
Every year, the CrossFit Open gives adults something most of us don’t get anymore: a
real chance to compete.
Not in a “win at all costs” way — but in the way that matters:
- A reason to show up with purpose
- A moment to get uncomfortable (on purpose)
- A chance to test yourself mentally and physically
- A clear snapshot of your fitness right now
At Cristini Athletics, we treat the Open as an annual health and fitness check-in for
our members in Markham and Woodbridge/Vaughan.
Want to be part of it this year? Book your free assessment and we’ll help you choose
the right starting point.
It’s three weeks where we measure progress, celebrate firsts, and gather the kind of
data that helps us coach you better for the next 12 months.
Why we do the CrossFit Open every year
If you’ve been training consistently, you deserve a moment to see what that work can
do.
For long-time members, the Open is a powerful check-in:
- How did your engine improve?
- Are you moving better under fatigue?
- Did your strength carry over?
- What skills are finally clicking?
For newer members, it’s often the first time you realize:
- You’re capable of more than you think
- You can do hard things (even when you’re nervous)
- Fitness is a skill — and you’re building it
And for everyone in between, it’s a reminder that progress isn’t always visible
day-to-day… but it shows up when you test.
The CrossFit Open is where adults get to compete again
Most people stop competing after their teens or early 20s.
Then life happens:
- Work
- Kids
- Stress
- Injuries
- The “I’m not an athlete anymore” story
The CrossFit Open flips that script.
It gives everyday adults a structured, supportive way to step back into a competitive
environment — not against anyone else, but against the version of themselves that
plays it safe
The real win: community, energy, and momentum
The Open is three weeks that define our community.
It’s loud. It’s motivating. It’s the kind of environment where you do things you wouldn’t
do alone
And it’s why members say, year after year:
“There’s no other community like this.”
We don’t just run the workouts — we turn the Open into an experience that brings both
locations together and gives everyone a reason to rally.
What the Open workouts teach us (and how it improves your
coaching)
Here’s the part most people don’t think about:
The Open gives us data.
Three workouts, done under consistent standards, gives our coaching team real insight
into what we should focus on next.
For example:
- If pacing falls apart, we build better aerobic capacity
- If pulling endurance is a limiter, we program smarter progressions
- If movement quality breaks down, we refine mechanics and positions
- If confidence is the issue, we coach mindset and exposure
That’s how we keep improving year over year — not randomly, but intentionally.
